I may have to leave an event early, could I still attend?

Yes, come and have a good time. Please notify your leader at the beginning of the hike you will be leaving early. Be sure sign out early with the leader before you leave. It's a good idea to ask if there is a trail that you should use to make your return move direct. Do not, abandon the leader on the trail. Leaders are concerned for your safety and keep track of the particiapates. If the headcount doesn't match the number of people sign in the leader will stop the hike to look for you.. If you can't be found, they may contact the rangers to start a larger search for you.

Do you repeat events?

Yes. Some of our recurring events include Volleyball on Mondays, the newcomer's hike, the Wednesday Walkers. Events that are well-attended are apt to be repeated. Another way to ensure that an event you like is offered is to become a leader yourself and offer it (see How to Become a Leader page).

What is your cancellation policy?

If reservations are required for the event, the leader will contact you to let you know if it has been cancelled. For all other events, leaders show up 99% of the time. However, last-minute personal circumstances may occasionally keep them from attending. Even if the leader is unable to attend, they will contact another leader to substitute.. Check the write-up for special circumstances like "rain cancels."

How do I contact a leader?

The leader's contact information will be included in the write-up. If you need to telephone a leader, please try to contact them 24 hours before the event. Also, please try to call between the hours of 9:00am and 9:00pm.

Am I too young/old for Loma Prieta Sierra Singles?

Anybody at any age is welcome to attend an event. Our events are based on activity level and common interests. Ages range from the mid 30s thru mid 60s, but anyone over 18 is welcome.

Why join the Loma Prieta Sierra Singles, if I'm not a hard-core hiker?

Not all of the hikes on our schedule are diffucult. There are usually a few easy hikes you can try. We also other events that are not hikes like dinner and a movie, games night and volleyball. The newsletter specifies the pace and altitude, so there are no rude surprises. To see a sample our our activities, check out our events page
