from the Executive Committee writes; "The Sierra Singleaires are a friendly, active group of 50+ year olds who enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking and biking, as well as a variety of social and cultural activities throughout the year.  We also offer ski trips to Banff, mule trips in the Sierras, and outings to huts and hostels. We usually have two hikes on Sundays, one "easy" (less than five miles), and one that is more difficult, which are followed by a potluck at a member's home.  We are an activity section of the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club, and all of our leaders are trained and certified by the Sierra Club.  Please go to the activity page  to see the current schedule of outings.  Everyone who qualifies, is welcome to join us."

Membership
A prerequisite of membership in the Singlaires is membership in our parent organization, the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club or call the Loma Prieta Chapter .  Proof of Sierra Club membership can be your address label from the Loma Prieta SIERRA magazine, or a (photo) copy of your membership card showing the 8-digit member & expiration number.  

After becoming or being a member of the LPCSC, and you are single, you can join the Singleaires by filling out a membership form and paying $12 by check or money order (no cash, please.)  You will be notified by mail when your membership application is accepted. The Singleaires reserves the right to reject any membership application with or without cause with a full refund of your application money.  Note that membership is not denied if you get married while being a member. You can stay a member after marriage and your spouse can become a member, as long as your membership does not lapse and you are compliant with all other membership requirements. Married members are not excluded from holding leadership or ExCom positions. Yahoo Groups?
Our membership stays informed through Yahoo Groups. Numerous events are always being planned which don't get into the quarterly schedule. New activities, corrections or cancellations can be and are QUICKLY communicated through our Yahoo Groups.

Yahoo Groups also allows easy e-mail communication between members. You can opt out of receiving the Yahoo Groups e-mails and instead go to the Yahoo Singleaires site to see the messages.  The only information you need for joining Yahoo Groups is your e-mail address and a password that you make up.  You MUST also be a paid up Singleaires member to join Yahoo Groups.

Note: This is a private email group that is not connected with the Sierra Club or the Loma Prieta Chapter or the Singleaires Web Site.  Messages can be seen only by Singleaire Yahoo group members. The Club Calendar is on the Yahoo Groups site as well.  Click on "Calendar" at the left edge list of links for any current Calendar event information.
